To spice it up a little more you can add a stroke. Remember to enter any dialog editing box you need to click on the layer name and not just click in the checkbox. Instead of just creating a regular stroke or border around this layer (text), choose gradient from Fill Type and use the same black to white foreground to background gradient.

This whole design is staying within one color scheme yet making it a lot more interesting by adding little different variants through the elements

Now create another Text layer. You may be on the same settings as before but now we are going to add the actor’s name. You want to change the font (here I’m using Microsoft Sans Serif) and add the right effect by stretching it out to cover the entire width of the title. This technique is always used in one sheet design and advertising. Stretch your text to make it more elegant and expensive by using the tracking as shown.

If you want you can enter the gradient overlay dialog box again and try some different options out. It all depends on what you want to do and what you feel is right...as LONG AS IT LOOKS COOL (and legible where necessary).  Get this .psd file from the iPSD Directory.

Here I’ve decided to just do a light grey color fill that is very close to white from the color chooser at the bottom of the tool bar and then pressed alt backspace (you must first select the text in the text editing field) to fill with the new color. You could also use color overlay in the layer styles (effects) dialog box.

So simple isn’t it? Yet so effective. All you need to do is just keep on learning and applying within Photoshop. It is essential to fully understand all of Photoshop’s powerful tools and functions to really unleash your creative skill-grab that opportunity now with my Photoshop Designer training goodies.

Tutorials like this and other PSD.NET tutorials will help you learn because you are also capitalizing on the cross-section of several different Photoshop functions. This will ultimately add to your knowledge and production base immediately so you can keep designing. Rock on with your rawhide self!
